Dr. Ai Jia
Postdoctoral Research Associate
Dr. Jia obtained her Ph.D. from College of Urban and Environmental Sciences, Peking University (China) in July 2011. Her research interests consist in the occurrence, fate, elimination, and transfer of toxic chemicals in STPs and various environmental media. It’s also attractive for her to investigate their removal mechanism, potential toxicology and the further risk assessment. During her Ph. D. study, she investigated the fate and risk of emerging organic compounds in environment. Lots of work on the analysis of pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) in complex environmental media including wastewater, drinking water, sludge, sediment, soil, and biota samples have been conducted, applying SPE, LLE, ASE and UPLC-MS/MS. Thus she’s familiar with most sample preparation techniques, and instrumentation (chromatography and mass spectrometry).
In August 2011, she joined Dr. Snyder’s research group at the University of Arizona as a postdoctoral research associate to perform further investigation on contaminants of emerging concern in water in the context of water reuse.
