Graduate Student (Ph.D.)
Byron Hempel is a first year Ph.D. student and University Fellow in the Snyder Research Group in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at the University of Arizona. He earned a bachelors of science degree in chemistry from the University of Kentucky (2014). He has experience with muscular biophysical experiments and Western Blot analysis. His current research at Arizona focuses on the presence of carcinogens in firefighters of the Tucson Fire Department. Analysis is performed using the gas chromatography and liquid chromatography triple quadrupole mass spectrometer and GC-ICP/MS.
